about
Hideous Sun Demon believe that art can be found in everything. Every sensory impulse, every expression and experience, action, feeling and thought are all intrinsically linked under the common ground of arising from a spark of creation. Indeed, even convoluted systems of the human body can be argued as having a form of artistic merit. Much like the brilliant minds at Cabaret Voltaire reinvented nonsense as a vehicle to create meaning after the First World War, Hideous Sun Demon are reinventing the concept of bodily functions as a means of providing a beautiful and authentic contribution to our broad cultural narrative. ‘Squitter’ shines as a glimmering example of this idea.
Inspired by a messy ‘incident’ their front-man had one fateful January morning whilst walking by the river, Squitter takes this moment and reimagines it with the vibrancy and immediacy of David Hockey painting.
What is a squitter? And what gives Hideous Sun Demon the confidence to declare themselves “Lord of the Squits”? Is it a real word or did Vincent just make it up annoy his British friends? All this is explained in this exciting, unrelenting 2 minutes and 30 seconds of tightly wound punk rock. What ever “true art” means to you, Squitter dares to challenge it.

LYRICS
Smelly Surprise, before my eyes, from wet to dry
The brown brigade, from bowels I made, down by the lake
Oh the embarrassment, oh the harassment, oh how I do lament
What my God has sent
Another day, a walk of shame, down by the lake
Yeah it happened to me, but it could happen to anyone
On your first day of work, or your daughter’s christening
I try to clean it up and walk away
the itchy leaves they leave a rashy pain
I hope it washes away in the rain,
or it might ruin someone else’s day
(Lord of the squits), you know I’ve always got so much to say
(Manor of hits), you know there’s so much that I wanna say
We’ve got the squits and everybody’s gonna know about it
(There in the dirt) I wipe it up and now I hope it’s clean
(All on your shirt) It might be flammable like gasoline
It’s gonna hurt, and everybody’s gonna hear about it
(Lord of the squits)
Oh no!
Feeling regret, did not expect, what happened next
I couldn’t stall, the Berlin Wall was gonna fall
Oh the humiliation, and the degradation, in my imagination from the entire nation
Another day, a walk of shame, down by the lake
S, Q, U, I, T, T, E, R
I try to clean it up and walk away
the itchy leaves they leave a rashy pain
I hope it washes away in the rain,
or it might ruin someone else’s day
You know I’m feeling kinda sad today, but I’ll do it the David Hockney way
A bigger splash another joyful spray
A bigger splash and then I walk away
(There in the dirt) you know I’v always got so much to say
(All on your shirt) you know there’s so much that I wanna say
It’s gonna hurt, and everybody’s gonna hear about it
(Lord of the squits)
